Loft and lie angles are measured in degrees. Face Progression (FP) is the distance from the club’s leading edge to the center of the hosel and it’s often measured in mm. Alternatively, measuring distance of the club’s leading edge to the front edge of the hosel is known as Offset. Higher FP is equivalent to less Offset. Since hosel wall thickness can vary among different models and brands, FP is more accurate in comparing clubs.
The physical effect of high Offset (low FP) is to close the club face. The visual effect of a high Offset design can contribute to an undesired draw. While higher Offset is often marketed as a game improvement feature, it can have a negative performance effect that may not be overcome by lie angle adjustments. Testing both ends of the FP/Offset spectrum in club fitting is the best way to find the optimum design for you.
If you play irons with moderate or more offset and your typical ball trajectory is a draw, then testing clubs with less offset is recommended. If you play irons with minimal offset but typically generate a draw trajectory then bending them to a more flat lie angle should result in a straight trajectory. If these options fail to yield a relatively straight ball trajectory then your technique should be evaluated.
Miura irons for 2026 are available currently in seven different designs for right-handed players, and it’s likely that you will find yourself choosing between more than two of these models. That’s when club fitting helps in selecting the optimum model for your swing mechanics and playing tendencies.
SPECIAL FINISHES, LIMITED EDITIONS. Irons and wedges with special finishes like Aged Copper are often available in limited production runs. Black QPQ finish or unfinished Raw Carbon Steel are usually available for most clubs.
Limited editions of classic models (like ever popular Baby Blades) as well as signature and commemorative are produced periodically. These clubs typically sell out fast. Let me know if you have an interest in these sets, either for playing or collecting.
Each wedge has the classic Miura forged steel feel and versatile design features that yield distinct performance advantages for different swing styles on various turf and sand conditions. The complementary specifications among each of these wedge models facilitate assembling an effective set worthy of the ~25 % of a typical golf score determined by wedge play for golfers at all skill levels.
Club Fitting and Club Building
A FlightScope X3 advanced radar launch monitor is used to measure how golfers swing each club. Test club heads and shafts have adapters for assembling interchangeable club head/shaft combinations for club fitting. Ball trajectory is tracked in a custom-built cage, measured, and analyzed to determine the optimal combination of clubhead and shaft for each golfer. Shafts are premium models with close manufacturing tolerances and having proven on-course performance.
Club heads are ordered directly from Miura golf and shafts ordered directly from the manufacturer or a primary US distributor. Specifications for each club head and shaft are measured. For shafts we measure the overall bend profile with a dedicated instrument. Shaft weight, flex, and MOI are measured to confirm manufacturing tolerances. These measurements matter since not all manufacturers exercise acceptable quality control.
JTClubs builds each club individually and measures its key specs to ensure matched sets are built. Moment-of-Inertia (MOI) matched sets are recommended for greater performance consistency by all clubs than is typically met by swing-weight matching. The MOI energy required to swing each club is determined by a force measurement to complete a fully matched set. We build swing-weight matched sets on request. We use premium ferrules and offer custom patterns for individual expression.
Our professional club-building equipment is essentially the same as found in the shaft company workshops and OEM club assembly facilities that we have toured. Our personal clubs are built with the same brands and models used for fitting and building matched sets for clients. We believe our MOI-matched Miura clubs are the finest sets you can play.
